Master the Art of Deception

Being the Imposter is the most thrilling part of the game, but it's also the hardest. If you are tired of getting voted out in the first round, follow these 10 pro tips.

1. Be Vague but Confident

Never hesitate. If you pause, you are dead. Say something generic that applies to many things, like "I use this every day" or "It smells good." Confidence sells the lie.

2. Listen to the First Player

The first player usually gives a broad clue. Use that clue to narrow down the category. If they say "It's hot", you know it's probably food or weather. Pivot your strategy immediately.

3. Accuse Others (Carefully)

Don't be defensive. Sometimes the best defense is a good offense. Politely question someone else's vague clue to shift the spotlight: "Wait, Mike, that clue was a bit too generic, don't you think?"

4. Don't Be the First to Vote

Eagerly voting for someone makes you look suspicious. Wait for the group consensus to build, then join in reluctantly.

5. Use "Recall" Clues

Reference something that happened previously in the game or room context. "We saw this yesterday" is a great lie if you can make it believable.

6. Watch for Eye Contact

Civilians often look at each other for confirmation when a clue is given. Imposters tend to look at the floor or scan everyone equally.

7. Don't Repeat Clues

Saying "I agree with Sarah" is a death sentence. Always add a tiny bit of new information, even if it's small.

8. Know the Categories

Before the game starts, look at the category list. If you know you are playing "Food", your brain can quickly filter out non-food words.

9. Play Dumb

If you give a bad clue, act confused. "Oh, I thought we were talking about..." sometimes works as a hail mary.
